For media
The Victorian Small Business Commission (VSBC) is an independent government agency that advocates on issues affecting small business, educates people in small business about their rights and responsibilities, and helps them to avoid or resolve disputes.
The VSBC can help with business-to-business disputes, business-to-government disputes, farm debt mediation, freight and goods owner drivers and franchising disputes.
Media relations
We aim to manage media enquiries as promptly and thoroughly as possible. We respond to requests and enquiries during business hours. Journalists are asked to provide us with:
- details of their request
- their contact details
- media outlet
- deadline
How we work with the media
The authorised spokesperson for VSBC is Commissioner Judy O’Connell.
The Commissioner often provides media comment on topics such as:
- resolving or preventing small business disputes
- supporting small businesses during infrastructure projects
- paying small businesses on time
- managing your mental health
The Victorian Small Business Commission is unable to comment on the specifics of individual cases or on matters of government policy. We can provide more general comment about how VSBC works, with the aim of improving understanding among small businesses.
