Taxis, hire cars and rideshares
What we do
The Commercial Passenger Vehicle Victoria (CPVV) has established a dispute resolution process to manage disputes between taxi drivers, hire cars and rideshares and operators.
The Victorian Small Business Commission (VSBC) provides a mediation service to resolve taxis, hire cars and rideshare disputes.
A copy of a Commercial Passenger Vehicle Victoria certificate should accompany your application to the VSBC.
How we can help
Parties can access mediation through the VSBC only when the:
- dispute is first referred to the Commercial Passenger Vehicles Victoria (CPVV)
- CPVV has been unable to resolve the dispute
- CPVV has issued a certificate to the parties within the past 30 days enabling the dispute to be referred to the VSBC or Victorian Civil Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) for mediation.
If the dispute is referred to us and cannot be resolved, we can issue a certificate allowing the matter to be referred to VCAT.
Mediation with the VSBC is $95 per party for each session. There is no cost for assistance we provide over the phone or via email.
Legislation
Dispute resolution between taxis, hire cars and rideshares is conducted by the VSBC under the Commercial Passenger Vehicle Industry Act 2017.
