Are you aware that Victorian farmers are shielded from foreclosure through a mediation process delivered by the Victorian Small Business Commission?

The Farm Debt Mediation Act 2011 requires creditors offer and undertake mediation with farmers in arrears on farmland and machinery loans. The Act protects farmers by requiring creditors secure a certificate from the Victorian Small Business Commissioner as evidence that they’d undertaken, or attempted to undertake, mediation on farm debt matters in good faith. Mediation provides an equitable opportunity for farmers and creditors to sit down together and develop a workable solution to resolve farm debt disputes.

In this webinar, Victorian Small Business Commissioner Lynda McAlary-Smith will provide an overview of the Farm Debt Mediation Act, the Victorian Small Business Commission’s Farm Debt Mediation services and a detailed explanation of what participants can expect to experience during mediation.
